Patio Door Repair

Patio doors come in different shapes and sizes they can be solid doors, glass doors with wood frames or glass doors with aluminum frames and so on. The purpose of a patio door is to give an appealing exit/entry to and from the patio. Depending on the type of external door, several reasons can make these doors require some maintenance. The primary one is their exposer to weather which may cause them to deteriorate.

Types Of Patio Doors

Patio doors are mostly commonly sliding doors, french doors or bi-fold Doors; all of which require more attention than internal doors due to weathering. Weather conditions play a part in the lifespan of any door, especially if the door is not in good condition. Other issues can arise from a shifting foundation, this is quite common and can have an undesirable effect on multiple doors. A little 5mm shift in the foundation can make a door stick causing it to start rubbing or jamming.

Patio Door Maintenance

Since these doors are exterior, you need to maintain them by keeping them from being exposed to constant weathering; of course, this is only a problem if your door is not in good condition. Wood doors, especially, need to be painted or stained every few years, or so, to keep them functioning and looking good. Other patio doors, such as sliding doors, may require some upkeep of hardware such as tracks and rollers to be regularly cleaned from dirt and grime to prevent them from breaking down. French doors and Bi-fold doors are no exceptions; they also need maintenance. Bi-fold doors require adjustment to the system, such as hinges pivots and rollers. A Myreno handyman can skilfully and efficiently carry out these repairs for you.
